1. Mini Cooper D	Quick review	Technical data
	This great looking modern classic is not only great to drive but our winner with its combined MPG figure. 0-60 in 9.9 means it no slouch either. Power is delivered smoothly so there's not much feeling of the speed but it is there. The handling make this car fun to drive. The lack of power over the petrol models do however make it less fun than its petrol brother. New prices start at around 14K and with C02 emissions at 118 the car tax is going to be 35 pounds a year	0-60 - 9.9 Top Speed : 121 BHP : 121 Combined MPG : 72.4
2. Toyota Aygo 1.4
	The Toyota Aygo suffers from poor refinements, but makes up for this with a great engine, and looks better in the flesh than the photos suggest. Obviously it also has the solid Toyota build quality and reliability. The ride may be a bit stiff some , some ensure you get a test drive around some poor condition roads.	0-60 - 16.8 Top Speed : 96 BHP : 54 Combined MPG : 68.9
3. Citroen C1 1.4 HDi
	Cheaper than the Aygo and Peugeot 107 but with a slightly less spec. Cheap to run and fun to drive this car should be considered if your in the market for a cheap small car. Despite the excellent MPG figure the car only has a small petrol tank so range could be a problem.	0-60 : 15.6 Top Speed : 96 BHP : 55 Combined MPG : 67.2
4. Citroen C2 1.4 HDi
	Hard Edge styling make this car better looking than its smaller brother the C1. Great for Darting around the city but this car does suffer a bit from a harsh ride and could be considered a bit noisy. It also feels cramped compared to competition. The semi auto gearbox is also best avoided.	0-60 : 13.5 Top Speed : 103 BHP : 70 Combined MPG : 65.7

5. Citroen C3 1.4 HDi	Quick review	Technical data
	Inspired by the classic 2CV , i think the looks are hit or miss. Low running costs and a great spec for the money this car is however let down by reports of poor build quality. If buying 2nd hard get a checklist of common problems.	0-60 : 11.7 Top Speed : 110 BHP : 92 Combined MPG : 65.7
6. Toyota Prius 1.5 VVT-i Hybrid
	Ok the real deal in hybrid cars. Part petrol part electric. Plenty of space inside and a quiet engine are is plus points. On the downside, it is quite slow and the looks are well , i guess you don't buy this car for its looks.	0-60 : 10.9 Top Speed : 106 BHP : 76 Combined : 65.7
7. Renault Clio 1.5 dCi 65
	Fun to drive. Depreciation though could be a cause for concern.	0-60 : 14.9 Top Speed : 103 BHP : 65 Combined MPG : 64.2
8. Fiat Punto 1.3 Diesel
	Now you might not have though yourself a fiat driver, but think again. This Europe's best selling small car (i read somewhere) Cute super mini looks and that great MPG figures make this a low cost runner. CO2 down at 109 my this puppy is cheap evan on the new dreaded CO2 based car duty.	0-60 : 13.4 Top Speed : 102 BHP : 70 Combined MPG : 62.8

9. Smart Forfour CDi	Quick review	Technical data
	The looks are querky, but this little smart is not so little on the inside. The querks continue in the cabin and separate this car from the other mundane manufacturers though it may not be to all people tastes. ITs got a good spec though this is reflected in the price. The ride has been said to be a little firm, though alot of these smaller cars have this complaint at present.	0-60 : 13.9 Top Speed : 100 BHP : 60 Combined MPG : 61.4
10. Volkswagen Polo 1.4 S TDi
	A Well built little beauty. This model may have been around for years but its still as popular as ever. Styling has been changed on the latest models to keep it in check with the competition A smooth engine but un-inspiring drive. This car is one of the safest around with an excellent safer reputation.	0-60 : 12.8 Top Speed : 108 BHP : 80 Combined : 61.4
11. Honda Civic 1.4 i-Dsi IMA CVT
	A good value roomy vehicle. Obviously economical as its on our list. The drive is a little un-inspiring with little feeling from steering or brakes. The engine is technical marvel.	0-60 : 12.1 Top Speed : 115 BHP : 115 Combined MPG : 61.4
12. Peugeot 1007 1.4 HDi
	Electric sliding doors will probably be the first thing you notice on this car. This door design give great access, and there's plenty of space inside. Suprising good to drive , with light and accurate steering. The downside on this car is the price. Its very expensive when compared to others in its class.	0-60 : 15.4 Top Speed :99 BHP : 70 Combined MPG : 60.1
